Rosette Rugamba is an Aspen Global Leadership Network Fellow and Special Advisor to the Secretary-General United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) on sustainable tourism in Africa. She is now managing Songa Africa Ltd. She previously served as Deputy CEO Rwanda and Director General of the Rwandan Office for Tourism and National Parks. She currently serves as the board chair of the Women Chamber -Private Sector Federation. She also serves as a board member of Equity Bank Rwanda, Sonarwa Insurance Company, African Parks Network- South Africa, Diane Fossey Gorilla Fund International, Population Services International Rwanda (PSI) SFH and LEO.
Jennifer Collier Wilson is a Chief Results Officer.
Jennifer Collier Wilson leads TMEA’s Strategy and Results Team, joining in December 2018. She has 20 years of experience in international business, regional integration, economic growth and institutional capacity building in the United States, Europe, Asia, and Africa. She brings to TMEA expertise in programme design and results-based management, stakeholder engagement and communications, and strategic partnership development. Prior to joining TMEA, Jennifer worked in Southeast Asia on regional economic integration and governance serving as USAID’s Advisor to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). She provided strategic oversight for programmes in trade policy, trade facilitation, and public-private dialogue. Earlier in her career, Jennifer gained business experience in a medium-sized manufacturing company, then moved to a multinational telecommunications company launching operations across Europe. Jennifer began her international development career as DAI’s first Marketing Manager and then on to managing strategic stakeholder communications for a large regulatory reform program in Bangladesh with the International Finance Corporation (IFC). She holds a Master’s in International Business.
Hellen Oriaro is an International Development Officer at Global Affairs Canada.
Erastus Mwencha is the former Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission. He is also a former Secretary General of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA). Prior to COMESA, Mr Mwencha served in the Government of Kenya in several capacities, including as Head of Industrial Promotion Department, Secretary to Industrial Sciences Advisory Research Committee, and as a Senior Economist at the Kenyan Industrial Survey and Promotion Centre. He holds a Master’s degree in economics from the University of York and has received several awards and honours, including ‘Elder of the Golden Heart’ in 2009, and ‘Moran of the Burning Spear’ in 1998, both presented by the President of the Republic of Kenya. He has also received Officer of National Order in 1977, the highest national award in the Republic of Madagascar, and the highest Presidential Award given by the President of the Republic of Djibouti. Lastly, he led COMESA to the ‘International Gold Award for Excellence and Business Prestige’ in 2002, during the Quality Summit Award in New York.
Frank has over 20 years of experience as a senior private sector development specialist with an extensive track record in strategy, programme delivery and management in fourteen countries in Africa and six in Asia. Frank has been the Chief Executive Officer of TradeMark East Africa since October 2010 and prior to this was a private sector adviser for DFID and Country Director for Care. Frank started his career in the financial sector, as an International Fund Manager and Investment Analyst in the UK. Over the years Frank has designed and overseen over 40 major innovative and successful programmes totalling over $1 billion in the fields of trade, financial sector development, privatisation, investment climate reform, market development and skills development. Frank holds two Masters degrees in Economics and Archaeology, and is an IMRO certified Fund Manager.
As Senior Director, Business Competitiveness, Waturi Matu directs and monitors programmes that focus on; Private Sector Advocacy, Transport & Logistics, Export Capability and Women and Trade at the Regional and National level to enhance the competitiveness of sectors in East Africa. She is a seasoned professional with more than 17 years of experience in intermediation (Lobbying and Advocacy), SME development, business advisory services, project management, monitoring & evaluation and administration of grants and contracts. Waturi has served in the past as the Coordinator at the East Africa Tourism Platform (EATP), Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Association of Travel Agents and as the Regional Program Manager for the African Women Agribusiness Network East Africa. Prior to her current position, Waturi was the Director, Private Sector Advocacy at TMEA.
John Ulanga is the Country Director of TradeMark East Africa in Tanzania. Before joining
TradeMark East Africa, John Ulanga was the Vice President, External Affairs and Sustainability for
BG East Africa. Before joining BG East Africa, Mr. Ulanga was the Executive Director of the
Foundation for Civil Society in Tanzania and before then Mr. Ulanga worked with the Economic
and Social Research Foundation (ESRF).
Mr. Ulanga is a Fellow of the African Leadership Initiative in East Africa and the Aspen Global
Leadership Network of the Aspen Institute in Aspen Colorado, USA; Senior Fellow – Synergos
Senior Fellows Programme of the Synergos Institute, New York, USA; an alumni of the
International Visitors Leadership Programme of the US Department of State; an alumni of the
British Council’s InterAction Africa Leadership Programme, and a Senior Fellow of the Centre on
Philanthropy and Civil Society Studies at the Graduate Centre of the City University of New York.
Mr. Ulanga holds a B.Comm (Accounting) from the University of Dar es Salaam, an Executive
Masters in Development Policies and Practices from the Graduate Institute of International and
Development Studies in Geneva, and he is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA Tanzania)
Moses is currently the Country Director for TradeMark East Africa in Uganda where he has worked for eight years. Moses is a highly experienced professional with 25 years of experience in implementing trade facilitation, regional integration, logistics and investment climate reforms in East Africa.Moses previously worked with URA at the Commissioner General’s office for 17 years in areas of Reform and Modernisation, Corporate Performance Reporting, Monitoring and Evaluation and Customs. Moses holds a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Public Administration and Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Management.
